Saint-Cloud · Period mansion (1860) · 300 m²
Val d'Or Residence
The brief
Restoring an 1860 home to its rightful presence, for today.
The legacy of an 1860 period mansion, whose authenticity had been smothered by successive partitions. The brief: a complete interior architecture renovation, turnkey, restoring that heritage character by reopening the sightlines and the light. Italian design as the guiding thread: the rightness of the line, the truth of the material.
The studio's response

The staircase, an axis of light
The original staircase, a heritage feature of the 1860 house, was restored to its former nobility. The woodwork, crafted to the millimetre, lets light travel between the floors, linking the volumes in a fluid continuity.

A link between the levels
Around this sculptural axis, the spaces are organised without ever partitioning the perspective. Light travels from one level to the next, unifying the house into a single reading.

Opening up the sightlines
Partitions removed to create through views and let in the garden light, without ever betraying the heritage character of the house.

Bespoke design, down to the invisible
In the kitchen, an oak niche reveals itself at the heart of the verdigris-lacquered fronts, closed by pocket doors that slide away to the side once open. Everything that should disappear does, in the service of a clean reading of the space.

Spaces that breathe
Each room benefits from this overall approach, where bespoke design and the quality of the materials serve everyday comfort.

Material as ornament
A bespoke living wall: oak, veined black marble and lacquer assembled to the millimetre. Here, it is the rightness of the materials that stands in for decoration.
